Trifari Kunio Matsumoto Vintage Black Enamel Necklace and Earrings Set, Silver

A vintage Trifari set by the Japanese designer Kunio Matsumoto, sold as one: one necklace and a pair of earrings. The necklace is a flexible silver-tone omega chain carrying a black enamelled central panel, set with one large triangular clear stone and small round clear rhinestones. The earrings repeat the triangular stone and the rhinestones at the same scale as the necklace panel.

It is a study in contrast: glossy black, bright silver tone and clear stones that catch the light with a clean, graphic edge. The omega chain sits smooth and close, so the panel stays the centre of attention.

The necklace is about 17 inches long, and its central panel is about 1.5 inches wide. The earrings are about 1.5 inches long. The necklace is stamped both Trifari and Kunio Matsumoto in the central panel, and both earrings are signed Trifari and Kunio Matsumoto.

Condition: Pre-owned vintage. The necklace shows minimal signs of wear. At a closer look and under magnification, the large triangular stone of the necklace has some areas of cloudiness consistent with age. No loss of plating and no missing rhinestones. The earrings are in excellent condition, with clear triangular stones and no missing rhinestones.
