Chanel Vintage Gilded Turquoise Birds Nest Earrings
Earrings from the lifetime of Coco Chanel, designed by Robert Goossens in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The gilded bird's nest design is among his most distinctive, turquoise accents held in a woven gilt setting made with the pâte de verre technique.
Pâte de verre is packed into a mould and then fired, producing a depth of colour that cut stones do not reach. Pieces from this famous collection have been shown at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and have appeared in major exhibitions and publications.
