Coro Vintage 1980s Signed Clear Marquise Rhinestone and Twisted Rope Necklace and Clip-On Earrings Set, Gold Tone

A necklace of clear marquise rhinestones set in pairs, each pair wrapped by a thick band of twisted gold rope that crosses over them and runs on to the next, so the whole collar reads as one continuous braid of gold and light. The earrings take five of the same marquise stones and tie them with a rope knot into a small bow.

It catches the light from every direction, which is what a piece like this is for: an evening dress, a wedding, an Eid dinner. The rope keeps it from reading as pure sparkle, so it also sits well over a dark knit or a plain abaya on an ordinary day. The earrings are small enough to wear on their own.

The necklace closes with a hook on an extender chain finished with a ribbed ball; from the photos, the rhinestone section measures about 16 in (40 cm) and the extender adds about 3 in (7.5 cm).
