Christian Dior by Mitchel Maer 1950s Vintage Signed Gold Tone Chain Dome Clip-On Earrings with Clear Glass Drops
A dome of coiled, textured gold tone chain sits on the ear, and from it hang two swags of the same chain, each strung with clear glass teardrops that catch the light like drops of water. The drops are pale and glassy, so the earrings move and sparkle without any colour at all.
Pieces from the short Dior and Mitchel Maer collaboration are among the most collected of all early Dior costume jewellery, and these are unusually easy to wear: all gold and clear, with enough movement to frame the face. They pair with an updo and a bare neck, or with a simple gold chain when you want the earrings to be the only statement.
Signed CHRISTIAN DIOR BY MITCHEL MAER on an oval plaque on the clip, the mark used only during the collaboration between the two houses, from 1952 to 1956. Gold tone metal with clear glass teardrops, all present. Height 6.4 cm (2.5 in) from the top of the dome to the lowest drop, dome 2.5 cm (1 in) wide. Clip-on backs, no piercing needed. Made in France.
Condition: Good vintage condition for their age, with some discoloration on the clip side. All the glass drops are intact.
One pair only. Once it's gone, it's gone.
Care: Store separately in the pouch provided. Avoid perfume and water contact.
